What is being tested?

Luteinizing Hormone (LH)

Triggers ovulation and regulates your menstrual cycle. LH patterns help diagnose PCOS, assess fertility, predict menopause, and identify hormonal imbalances affecting periods and conception.

Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH)

Stimulates egg development and estrogen production in your ovaries. FSH levels help assess ovarian reserve, diagnose menopause/perimenopause, and evaluate fertility potential.

Prolactin

The hormone responsible for milk production. Elevated prolactin can disrupt periods, affect fertility, cause unexpected breast milk production, and indicate pituitary conditions requiring attention.

Total Testosterone

An important hormone for women affecting energy, libido, muscle tone, and mood. Both high levels (PCOS) and low levels (menopause, fatigue) can significantly impact wellbeing.

Free Testosterone (Calculated)

The amount of active testosterone available in your body. Helps identify PCOS, assess symptoms like excess hair growth or acne, and evaluate low libido or energy issues.

Sex Hormone Binding Globulin (SHBG)

A protein that binds to sex hormones in your blood. Low SHBG is common in PCOS and insulin resistance, while high levels can reduce available hormones.

Thyroid Function (TSH/T4)

Controls metabolism, energy, weight, periods, and mood. Thyroid problems are common in women and can cause irregular periods, fatigue, weight changes, and fertility issues.

Free Androgen Index (Calculated)

Shows the ratio of testosterone to SHBG, indicating how much active testosterone is available. Elevated levels help diagnose PCOS and explain symptoms like hirsutism or acne.

Oestradiol

The primary estrogen in women of reproductive age. Oestradiol levels indicate ovarian function, help assess menstrual irregularities, track menopause transition, and evaluate fertility.

Progesterone

Essential for regulating your menstrual cycle and supporting early pregnancy. Low progesterone can cause irregular periods, PMS, difficulty conceiving, and increased miscarriage risk.

Iron

Carries oxygen throughout your body. Women are particularly prone to iron deficiency due to menstruation, causing fatigue, breathlessness, pale skin, and reduced exercise capacity.

Total Cholesterol

Measures all cholesterol in your blood. Women's cardiovascular risk increases after menopause, making cholesterol monitoring important for long-term heart health.

Non-HDL Cholesterol

All cholesterol except the protective HDL type. This marker gives a comprehensive view of potentially harmful cholesterol that can build up in arteries.
